Insane to have a beach this nice this close to the city #cantbeatwellyonagoodday

Just 1.5km from the CBD but it feels like a holiday. The golden sand was actually shipped in — 22,000 tonnes from Golden Bay in 2004 to rebuild the beach. Heritage Norfolk pines line Oriental Parade, some up to 15 metres tall and planted from 1921. Swim out to the pontoon, cycle the promenade, or just grab a coffee and watch the harbour from a bench. On a calm evening when the city lights hit the water, it's about as good as it gets.
