Space Place at Carter Observatory

40 Salamanca Road, Kelburn, Wellington 6012, New Zealand

1 recommendation

Originally the Wellington City Observatory (nicknamed 'The Tin Shed') from 1924, now a proper space museum at the top of the Botanic Garden. A nine-metre digital planetarium with six 4K projectors, the historic Thomas Cooke telescope, and interactive galleries. A cable car ride from Lambton Quay, then you're staring at the stars. Night observing sessions let you use the real telescopes. Managed by Museums Wellington and a must-visit for curious minds of all ages.
