Thirteen kilometres of ridgeline running from Johnsonville to Mākara Saddle, with Mt Kaukau (445m) as the high point. On a clear day you can see the South Island ranges, Mt Taranaki, and even Ruapehu. It's exposed and undulating — proper hill country — so bring layers and allow half a day. One of the great urban walks in New Zealand, and it's right on Wellington's doorstep.
